Description:
- Set-up, run, and take-down the SUU Mobile Planetarium at local elementary schools
- Learn and present scripted planetarium shows to elementary and middle school audiences
- Help plan, communicate, market, oversee, and manage event details for Middle School STEAM Nights, Family “STEM in the Field” Events, and the State Science Fair and Science Olympiad Competitions
- Occasionally assist with other STEM events including field trips, Wonder Wednesday, and Toddler Tuesday, and Elementary School STEAM nights
Positions available for work-study and non work-study students
Additional Information: Schedule is flexible during the day from 9 am - 3 pm for office work, but ideal candidate will have a 3-4 hour block of time either in the morning or afternoon on Wednesday or Thursday to help with the planetarium shows at local elementary schools, most Thursday evenings required at events, one Saturday required in spring semester for the Science Olympiad.
Qualifications:
- Some astronomy experience preferred, but not required
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Google Workspace
- Must be able to pass a background check through ICSD
- Dependability and punctuality a must
- Must be able to maintain a clean and neat, professional appearance
- Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs
- Must have a valid driver's license and transportation to travel to work locations at Elementary schools in Cedar City
